Office birthday decorating ideas – think outside the cubicle

Office birthday decorating ideas – think outside the cubicle

You know the drill . . . it’s someone’s birthday. Get out the old rolodex. You call up Wal-Mart, order a cake, give them that lame company printed mug filled with butterscotch, pencil in a ten second rendition of “Happy Birthday’’ and everyone goes back to pushing paper.

If you are stuck in an office birthday rut . . . get with it, grandma. (We mean that in the most endearing way possible.) Don’t be the lame office in the high rise . . . upgrade yourself to office popularity queen with these whimsical office birthday ideas that are sure to put those stupid company mugs in the corner where they belong . . .

Corporate Funny Farm

Humorous Decor

Lots of fun for the office who loves to laugh, our corporate farm ideas won’t just make their day . . . it will make yours too. Start out by printing out large clip art versions of farm animals on cardstock. Then replace the faces with the faces of the staff. You can print these out so you don’t ruin any good photos.

Country Favors

Purchase plain metal pails at party supply stores such as Celebrate express. Fill the buckets with party favors like Cow Tails. Line the inside of the pails with red bandanas for flare. You can also find cow print balloons at your local party store.

Cupcakes on the Cheap

Save money on a cake by opting for simplistic cupcakes decked out with green icing. Buy a few tubes of plastic animals at your local Dollar Tree and place one atop each cupcake for a little whimsy in the middle of the work week.

Country Keepsakes

Last but not least, add this fun sign for a good giggle . . . “It’s your birthday . . . milk it!” Ask everyone to autograph it with birthday wishes for the birthday guy or gal to keep.

Glamour Gala

Chic Decor

A cheap and inexpensive way to decorate an entire cubicle is with wrapping paper. When you cover the walls tightly it gives a very convincing look of wall paper. We particularly like zebra print for this theme. Next, pick up several hot pink feather boas at your local party store. Dollar Tree will also occasionally carry these. Use these as a border at the top of the cubicle where the wallpapering ends and viola . . . instant glamour girl chic right inside the cubicle. If you construct this well it can last for a long time and bring a little joy all year round.

Fun Dessert

Plastic pink martini glasses are a dime a dozen at a party store. Fill it with a lime parfait and you have an instant work-friendly lux dessert. You can even keep to the old tradition of lime juice and salt . . . or in this case sugar.

With these imaginative ideas . . . you simply have no excuse to keep the cheesy flower piped cake and company branded mugs complete with grandma candy. So what are you waiting for? Dump the lame traditions and strike a pose . . . You’re not the dorky office anymore!
